Design
Create and edit designs directly in WorkMate using the built-in design editor. Save your designs to your Assets library and generate images with AI.
What it is
WorkMate Design gives you a fully-featured design editor built right into your workspace. Whether you're creating social media graphics, email headers, flyers, or other marketing materials, you can design, edit, and save everything without leaving WorkMate. Design is for static graphics — it does not build landing pages or websites; for that, use the WorkMate Web module. All your designs are stored in your Assets library so you can find them, edit them again later, and organize them alongside your other workspace files.
The design editor is simple enough for non-designers to use, but powerful enough for professional design work. You can create from scratch, start with templates if available, add text and images, generate new images with AI, and save your work instantly.
Opening the editor
From the main menu:
- In WorkMate, click Design in the left navigation. Direct link: app.workmateos.co.uk/workmate/design.
- The design editor opens in full screen and is ready to use.
No setup required — just open it and start designing. Your workspace automatically connects the editor to your account and Assets library.
Common tasks
Create a new design
- Open the Design module.
- The editor shows a blank canvas by default.
- Choose a canvas size or start with the preset dimensions.
- Add text, shapes, and images using the editor's tools.
- When you're happy with it, click Save and give your design a name.
- Your design is saved to your Assets library.
Edit a saved design
- Open the Design module.
- Look for your saved designs in the editor's file browser or recent designs section.
- Click a design to open it.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save to update it. The editor saves your changes to the same file.
Add images to your design
- Click the Image tool in the editor.
- Either upload an image from your computer or paste one directly.
- Resize and position it on your canvas.
- Save your design when finished.
Generate an image with AI
- Click the Generate Image button (usually in the tools or top menu).
- Describe the image you want: for example, "a sunset over mountains" or "a modern office building."
- The editor creates an AI image and adds it to your canvas.
- Resize or reposition it as needed.
- Save your design.
Save your design to Assets
- Every time you click Save, your design is stored in your Assets library.
- You can access your saved designs later to edit, reuse, or share them.
- Designs are named based on what you give them, so use clear names like "Q1 Social Header" or "Email Banner v2."
Tips
- Save as you go — The editor auto-saves as you work, but always click Save when you're done to make sure your design is stored in Assets.
- Use AI image generation to speed up — Instead of hunting for stock photos, describe what you need and let AI create it. You can edit and refine it just like any other image.
- Clear naming helps later — Name your designs something you'll recognize in six months. "Q1 Social Header" is better than "Design 1."
- Canvas size matters — Think about where your design will be used (social media, email, print) and set the canvas size accordingly. The editor often suggests common sizes.
- You can download too — After you save a design to Assets, you can download it as an image file (PNG, JPG) or other formats depending on your needs.
- Design together with your team — Saved designs live in your workspace Assets, so team members can find them, open them, and make updates if you give them access.
- Combine templates and custom work — If template options are available for your package, you can start with a template, edit it in the design editor, and save your customized version.
